That coat looks fab on you! It’s not an article of clothing, but a week ago I was shopping for furniture for our new house in Italy at a secondhand store, and I found a most wonderful object: a telephone chair! It has an attached little table to the side, meant for an old-fashioned telephone. I did not need such an impractical piece of furniture right now, and yet, it was exactly what I needed for the bookshop I am going to open in the cellar. I bought it, and now it sits happily in my living room, reminding me that some of the best things in life are impractical
Oh how interesting that you said this! I was in France again on Saturday (the border is 45 minutes from here) at a secondhand store, and I saw three tables like what you've described! I found them so charming and almost bought one, but decided against it because we have limited floor space and furniture we need more. But now that I've read this comment, I'm fighting the urge to speed back there and see if any of them are still available.
It really is so perfect!! This exact same thing happened me with a dress at a market in France over the summer - I had my Cinderella moment trying it on in the back of the lady’s dodgy van while she stood guard outside the door 😅 I also appreciate the niche travel bag recommendation! Despite my best intentions we seem to only ever fly Ryanair and I’ve almost bought a few of those Amazon bags 👀

Thank goodness this was a coat, and I could put it on over my dress. But I can definitely see myself doing the same! We're going to need a picture of the dress!
That coat really is perfect! I was at a vintage fair back in the spring and fully expected to find nothing in my size, but I stumbled across this gorgeous satin shirt and knew instantly that I was taking it home. That is such a good feeling!
